Element: Prepare for task
  • Determine task requirements from design and other work documentation
  • Plan construction and assembly sequence and identify procedures for checking quality at each stage
  • Identify and follow work health and safety procedures
  • Select suitable work area for the task
  • Complete preparatory drawings and set-outs in accordance with design and other work documentation
  • Develop cutting list for components in accordance with design and other work documentation
  • Select tools and equipment and check that they are safe and functional
  • Check that materials meet task quality requirements

  • Set out and prepare materials and mark components in accordance with task requirements
  • Use tools, equipment and machinery safely and in accordance with manufacturer specifications
